We built this perimeter fence around a residential property with a board-on-board style, per the customer’s request. This style is also referred to as “piano key” and can be created in a variety of ways, with different types of woods, top caps, and bottom kickboards. This fence uses redwood pickets with metal posts hidden behind pickets no greater than 8 feet apart. Using metal instead of wooden posts is more expensive, but effectively doubles the lifespan of a fence.
